New Division of Preventive Medicine in Department of Health
Humayun Chaudhry announced the creation of a new Division of Preventive Medicine, and rolled out several division initiatives to educate residents, students and county employees on healthier lifestyles. Levy appointed Dr. Maureen Crowley of Westhampton, as the division’s director. "We envision this new division to proactively address the pressing health issues that are affecting our county," said Levy. "Many of the leading causes of morbidity and mortality in the US -- heart disease, diabetes and stroke – involve risk factors associated with individual lifestyle behaviors that are potentially modifiable." "Prevention is the key to keeping residents in good health," said Dr. Chaudhry. "With this new Division of Preventive Medicine we can create and promote opportunities for Suffolk County residents to take necessary steps to modify their eating and behavioral habits, with the aim of improving their health and preventing disease and premature death." Included in the division’s activities will be: A first-ever Suffolk County children’s health summit, being coordinated in May between the county and various school districts; A Workplace Wellness Conference to help employers promote healthy lifestyles and disease prevention among their employees; A health promotion pilot program for the 1,600 employees of the County Department of Health Services; An Asthma demonstration program in the county health centers.
Broadfoot relishing glory bid
The Light Blues face Werder Bremen at Ibrox on Thursday in the first of four successive cup ties. They host Hibernian in the Scottish Cup on Sunday and play Dundee United in the CIS Cup final a week later - with the second leg of their UEFA Cup clash against Bremen in between. While Rangers are focusing on knock-out ties in the immediate future, the SPL remains their priority as they bid to stop Celtic winning a third successive title. Broadfoot has been in the thick of the action in recent weeks after his appearances in the first team had threatened to run dry. The Scotland B international had played only one SPL game before the end of January, but the sale of Alan Hutton has seen him reintroduced to the team at a crucial time. "This time last year I was fighting a relegation battle," said Broadfoot.
Fantasy sports chat transcript
Nick Fruscello: Welcome again to Fantasy Friday! This upcoming Tuesday is the NHL trading deadline and it could impact a lot of teams in the NHL and make a big impact in your fantasy league. Vinnie Prospal, Rob Blake, Mats Sundin, Olli Jokinen, Marian Hossa are just a few of the bigger names getting thrown around. Big names getting traded into better situations can be exactly what you're looking for going into the fantasy hockey playoffs. In 02, Pavel Bure was slumping and was traded to the Rangers. Bure went on a tear scoring 12 goals in 12 games and getting 20 points overall. A huge boost for his owners at this critical part of the season and a huge boost for anyone that had his linemates. Earlier in the week Peter Forsberg's agent said he wasn't coming back this season, but just recently I heard that Forsberg IS still planning on playing this year, so keep your finger on that add button for Forsberg.
