| CATS taps N.Y. company's technology
The Charlotte Area Transit System has chosen a New York company's software to enhance safety and improve operations on city buses. Under the agreement, Verint Systems Inc.'s Nextiva Transit system will transfer video and other data from the buses to CATS' central monitoring station for investigation and risk management. CATS serves a six-county area around Charlotte, operating bus and trolley services as well as a light rail system. It is the largest transit system between Washington, D.C., and Atlanta. Financial terms of the agreement weren't disclosed. .
No Country For Old Men Triumphs At The Oscars
Dark thriller No Country For Old Men was the big winner at the 80th Academy Awards in Hollywood on Sunday, after claiming four of the eight prizes the film was nominated for. As well as being named Best Motion Picture, siblings Joel and Ethan Coen claimed the night's Best Director and Best Adapted Screenplay trophies, with Javier Bardem taking home the Best Supporting Actor honour for his portrayal of the film's psychotic killer, Anton Chigurh. The Bourne Ultimatum was a triple winner, collecting accolades for Best Sound Editing, Best Sound Mixing and Best Film Editing. There Will Be Blood and La Vie En Rose were double winners. It was also a great night for Europe with Irishman Daniel Day-Lewis, French actress Marion Cotillard and Brit Tilda Swinton joining Spaniard Bardem in a clean sweep of the night's acting awards.

Stars line up to sing the praises of Dubliners legend Ronnie
A firmament of stars, including Andrea Corr, Shane MacGowan, Sinead O'Connor and U2 took to the stage on the Late Late Show to sing their hearts out in a one-off performance.
Dressed in a sober black suit, with a red patterned scarf around his neck, the beloved founder of the Dubliners said the performance was "great" and "magnificent."
"I'm speechless. I am really knocked out and honoured and grateful. I don't think I deserve it," he told Pat Kenny.
Mr. Drew, who has just finished his latest bout of treatment for throat cancer at St. Vincent's Hospital, Dublin, said that ever since the song was written he feels stronger.
"I feel stronger and my hair is even growing back," he joked.
The song, entitled "The Ballad of Ronnie Drew" was composed by Robert Hunter, Bono, the Edge and Simon Carmody and was recorded at Windmill Lane on January 14 and 15.
